Compliance Associate

Bee Compliance was launched in April 2020, with the goal of providing accessible, client focused compliance services to democratic and progressive organizations and candidates. We understand that every organization and campaign is different, and we aim to provide a tailored and comprehensive compliance experience to each of our clients—which means transparency, ample review times, and “reconciled to the penny” reports. We offer a wide range of services including drafting, reviewing, and filing required campaign finance reports with relevant regulatory bodies (FEC, Secretary of State, etc.), as well as basic accounting and bookkeeping services.

Job duties

This role will have a lot of room for growth and development as the organization itself continues to expand in the lead up to the 2022 election cycle. This is a cycle position with an end date of December 31, 2022.

  • Maintain and update compliance database with new information on a daily basis

  • Reconcile bank accounts

  • Assist with the drafting of required state and federal campaign finance reports

  • Prepare reports of income and expenses

  • Correspond with support teams and clients as needed

  • Process client payroll

  • Initiate payments for clients

  • Special projects as they arise

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience, such as in a Finance Assistant or Associate role in a campaign, or experience in another compliance role

  • A collaborative working style with the desire to pitch in on a variety of tasks

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing

  • Capacity to manage multiple competing projects

  • Strong organizational skills to ensure that deadlines are met and partners are informed of project status

  • Robust technical skills

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Workspace applications, NGPVAN 7 & 8, and Quickbooks Online is desired, but the ability to learn new programs is required

  • A sense of ownership over your work and proactivity in seeking guidance and direction, when needed

  • Prior bookkeeping experience a plus

While the organization is currently remote, there is a preference for candidates in Washington, DC, where business operations are based.
